Bonus- Merchant Marines (WWII) Veterans

Mariners in WWII also paid the price. There were 9300 killed and 663 men and women taken prisoner. 1 in 26 Mariners died in the line of duty.

Please alert any and all Veterans that have served on active duty in the Merchant Marines between 7 December 1941 and 15 August 1945.

They may be entitled to a $500.00 BONUS. A DD Form 214 evidencing Honorable Service is required. If you don't have or can't find your DD Form 214 we can help you get one. Proof of Pennsylvania residency on 12 April 2006 is required. Paperwork needs to be filed timely and completely.

Qualified Veterans must apply in person or if the Veteran's health prevents that application, they must apply through a representative(attorney in fact) authorized by the Adjudant General.

Application forms and info are available at the Chester County Veterans Affairs office listed above. Call for an appointment. It allows us to better serve you and saves time.

There is a short time frame for applications. Paperwork takes time to process. Apply as soon as posssible. 31 December 2006 is the "properly filed" application submission deadline.
